THE CADRYS

Like the exotic carpets that Jacques Cadry sold for more than 50 years, his life was
a woven textile bringing together many diverse strands to create a beautiful
lasting image.

Jacques Cadry the family patriarch
and founder of Cadrys Handwoven Rugs Specialists, arrived in Australia in 1951
and established his business one year
later in its now famous historic sandstone showrooms situated in Edgecliff, Sydney.

Weaving a profound passion and appreciation for hand-woven carpets Jacques enthusiasm and expertise was shared by his two sons Eddy and Robert who followed in their father’s footsteps.
The family’s commitment to conducting business with the utmost integrity
combined with their knowledge and love
of hand-woven rugs has enabled Cadrys
to become the most trusted rug specialist
in Australia.

The tradition continues today, with two
of Jacques' grandchildren, Mark and Jessica, integral to the business.
Together with Robert, the third generation are taking the family business forward
to many new and exciting areas.

KINDRED SPIRITS - FLORENCE BROADHURST & CADRYS TOGETHER AGAIN
In the 60s, the flamboyant Florence Broadhurst would take the daily stroll from her studio in Paddington often stopping along the way to chat with Jacques Cadry, the founder of Cadrys hand-woven carpets. Florence had an obvious love for textiles and design and would talk for hours about her latest screen prints while Jacques would share his latest silk rug treasures from the exotic East and beyond. Fast forward four decades and the kindred spirit of Florence and Jacques has been reignited though a new collaboration between Cadrys and Signature Prints, the custodians of the Florence Broadhurst design library. When Signature Prints first came to Cadrys they were looking for a reputable firm who could artistically translate the Florence Broadhurst designs into a new medium. The preferred company would have to uphold all the benchmarks of the Florence Broadhurst brand, have a strong aesthetic sense, be artistically brave and produce exceptional quality. With decades of expert knowledge and integrity behind them, Cadrys was the obvious choice.
